Kumano, an area surrounded by rich nature, is a region that has been visited since ancient times by many people for pilgrimages and ascetic training as the “land of resurrection.” The route for this is called “Kumano Kodo” with many people aiming to arrive at Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. The historical and cultural value of this site has been recognized. It was listed as a world heritage site together with Yoshino-Omine and Koya-san as the “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.” Kameya Ryokan is an inn founded 150 years ago that is surrounded by the great nature of this world heritage site. The building was built at the beginning of the Showa Period (1926 to 1989) a little over 80 years ago. This was listed as a tangible cultural property in 2008. Please heal your mind and body here with a traditionally elegant appearance and natural hot springs. Please also make sure to enjoy cuisine packed with many of the natural blessings unique to Kumano.

This is a hot spring made in a river, so it feels completely open. Enjoy bathing while experiencing the great outdoors in the morning mist, under the starry sky or at another time of your choosing. This will become a wonderful memory of your trip. This is a one minute walk from Kameya Ryokan, so you can get there easily.

The cuisine at our inn has a focus on ingredients from Kumano. We serve various dishes. For example, dishes made using the Kumano beef from branded cattle in Kumano, healthy dishes with a good nutritional balance and vegetarian dishes.
This is the standard course of Kameya Ryokan with a good nutritional balance. There are about eight dishes in this course, including freshwater fish grilled with salt, kettle-cooked rice and udon noodles refined with charcoal.
This is a course that lets you enjoy the Japanese Black Kumano beef with shabu-shabu (thinly sliced beef boiled quickly with vegetables) and toban-yaki (beef grilled on a ceramic plate) [please choose one]. Please enjoy the taste of high-quality meat.
We have a healthy course for vegetarians. This is only available if you make a reservation one week in advance.
